The role of the AeSSA Council is as follows:

  • Manage the relationship with the Royal Aeronautical Society
  • Manage the relationship with Corporate Partners
  • Manage the relationship with local and international industry associations, including ECSA and international societies
  • Attend to matters relating to AeSSA members, particularly regular correspondence and communication, membership and membership upgrades, and support for the Cape Chapter and the Young Professionals Forum
  • Manage the AeSSA’s finances and governance
  • Organise regular meetings for members, including lectures and an annual conference
  • Conduct outreach activities targeting defined audiences, including the youth, students and the media
  • Evaluate candidates to confer awards and medals annually

To executive these functions, Council elects a President and Vice President, an Honorary Secretary and an Honorary Treasurer. The following portfolios as a minimum will be addressed during Council meetings.  Additional portfolios may be defined as the situation requires.
